AI assistants (MCP)

VeyFrame includes a Model Context Protocol server, so AI assistants such as Claude and Codex can work with your recordings: “cut the long pauses”, “add captions”, “export a vertical version”.

Turn it on

Open VeyFrame → Settings (⌘,) → AI Assistants and turn on Allow AI assistants. Until you do, every request is refused. The same pane gives a ready-to-copy setup for each assistant and lists what assistants changed.

Connect an assistant

With VeyFrame in Applications:

Claude Code

claude mcp add --scope user veyframe -- "/Applications/VeyFrame.app/Contents/MacOS/VeyFrame" --mcp

Claude (desktop app)

Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config, add this, and restart Claude:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "veyframe": {
      "command": "/Applications/VeyFrame.app/Contents/MacOS/VeyFrame",
      "args": ["--mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Codex

In ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.veyframe]
command = "/Applications/VeyFrame.app/Contents/MacOS/VeyFrame"
args = ["--mcp"]

What assistants can do

  • Read: list and open recordings, read transcripts, and look at any moment as an image.
  • Edit: trim, cut, zoom, captions, annotations and blurs, speed sections, styles, vertical layouts, and any setting, with undo and redo.
  • Speech: transcribe, remove pauses and filler words, cut a phrase by its words, speed up typing, and clean up the voice.
  • Output: export MP4 and GIF in several shapes, SRT subtitles, and combine clips.
  • Record: start, pause, resume, and stop recordings.

Safety

  • The server listens only on your Mac, through a socket only your user account can open.
  • Edits happen in the editor where you can see them, and each is one undo step.
  • Starting or resuming a recording always asks you to confirm.
  • Assistants can't delete recordings, and exports only replace earlier exports.
What an assistant sends to its own service (for example, a transcript or a frame it looks at) is covered by that service's terms.
