Annotations and blurs
Point things out, and hide what shouldn't be seen. Add annotations from the Annotate tab; each starts at the playhead.
Kinds
| Annotation | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Text | Add a title or note. A Callout has a box with a soft shadow; Plain is just text. Text stays in place on the canvas as the screen zooms. |
| Arrow | Point at something on screen. |
| Highlight | Draw a box around something. |
| Spotlight | Dim everything except one area. |
| Blur | Hide private information with a blur, pixelation, or a solid cover. |
Arrows, highlights, spotlights, and blurs are attached to the recorded screen, so they stay on the same content when it zooms.
Move and reshape
Drag an annotation on the preview to move it, and drag its handles to reshape it. Drag its block on the Overlays lane to change when it appears.
Colors
A callout has a Box color and a Text color; Auto picks black or white text for contrast. Every color row has presets and a + button for any color, by hex code (like #FF8800) or from the Colors panel. Solid blurs are black unless you pick a color.
Blurs never fade
Other annotations fade in and out, but blurs appear and disappear instantly, so the content they hide never shows at their edges.
Delete
Select an annotation and press ⌫, or hover over it in the On this clip list and click the trash button.
